LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. – Hollywood Casino boasts a rise in revenues after getting a larger boat and changing its name from Argosy casino. A new report from the Indiana Gaming Commission says that Hollywood Casino’s revenue saw a rise of $1.8 million in January.

Casino conglomerate Harrah’s Entertainment recently received approval from the Nevada Gaming Control Board to acquire the ailing Planet Hollywood casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

Casino conglomerate Harrah’s Entertainment has expanded their presence on the Las Vegas Strip by taking over the operations of the hotel attached to the Planet Hollywood Casino.

The site (formerly known as the Aladdin) has been in dire financial straits since the financial crisis of late 2008. Although the gaming giant has voiced its plans to take over the facility, they are currently only overseeing the hotel; the casino, retail stores and other parts of the resort are still under the control of the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain.

Harrah’s Entertainment will take over the management of the Planet Hollywood resort on the Las Vegas Strip at midnight tomorrow as part of the company’s longer-range plan to buy the property, Harrah’s announced today. In an internal memo to employees today, Planet Hollywood owner Robert Earl said things would be “business as usual” during the transition.
